Art4Eyes - £3,000 of prizes to be won in our schools competition

How would you like to win some fantastic prizes for your school and help children with eye cancer at the same time?

This year, to mark World Retinoblastoma (Rb) Awareness Week from May 11-17, schools and youth groups are invited to take part in the exciting Art 4 Eyes competition and win one of the great prizes on offer.

How you can get involved

SCHOOLS/GROUPS

Please register your interest in the first instance by emailing your details, including the name of your school/organisation and approximate number of children taking part to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. We can then send you full details of entry along with information leaflets and stickers.

SUPPORTERS OF CHECT

We need your help to encourage as many schools as possible to take part. Please print off the letter below and pass it on to primary, junior and infant schools in your area, or organisations involving children aged between 5-11.

How your company can help

Eye cancer will alter the lives of not just the child affected, but parents, siblings, extended family, schools, friends and the wider community.  So although rare, this cancer will have touched a very wide audience and the sporadic nature means it could affect anyone in the future.  This is why your staff, customers and clients will be able to relate to our cause.

Give as you Earn

Give As You Earn sometimes known as Payroll Giving allows anyone in the company to make a donation quickly and easily directly from their salary.  As the donation is deducted from the gross amount, it means a £5 donation costs the donor £4.

Sponsorship

Achieve great brand awareness amongst your customers, and our supporters, by sponsoring one of our exciting projects or events.  Our plans include an exclusive art exhibition, members’ weekend and an open water swim in Windermere.  Or we can work with you to create your own sponsored event.


Cause Related Marketing

The results of a survey run by Business in the Community showed the important place of CRM.

86% of consumers are more likely to buy a product that is associated with a cause or issue;

73% of consumers would switch brands; and

64% of consumers feel that cause related marketing should be a standard part of a company's business practice.

Together we can create a CRM partnership that will connect with customers, gain a great presence in the community and engage with new audiences, whilst raising funds and awareness to fight eye cancer.

Your skills and expertise could help CHECT reduce costs and support more families that so desperately need our help.  Whether it is design and print, training and skill sharing, a powerful introduction or a one off gift any of these has a considerable value to our team.

Does your company offer staff a volunteering day/s each year? - Here are some ideas about how you could use yours to help CHECT.

Join a cheering squad at the Virgin London Marathon

Bag Packing at you nearest supermarket is a great way to raise funds and raise awareness.  You would need to get a few of your colleagues involved as well as a minimum group of 10 is required.

 

Arrange a bucket collection at your local supermarket or station or ask local businesses and shops if they would have a collection tin on their counter for the year.

 

What ever you chose to do, CHECT staff will be there with support and advice all the way through.

Become a professional member

Becoming a member of the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT) is FREE and is open to anyone affected by Rb, their friends and family, health professionals and all supporters of CHECT. Our InFocus newsletter

 

  • You will have the opportunity to meet other individuals and families affected by Rb at regional and national CHECT events.
  • You can join discussions on any aspect of Rb with other individuals and families on our private Facebook page.
  • We can provide materials (posters, leaflets etc) for public display, or support and information for anyone affected by Rb (families, schools etc).
  • Our regular newsletter and e-news will keep you informed on research developments, news and service updates, as well as our members' stories.
  • You will be able to help us raise awareness of Rb, through sharing information with your professional groups and suggesting information outlets (such as professional publications) we can target.
  • If you are able to secure speaking opportunities at professional seminars and workshops we can provide information and materials to support your presentation.
  • Our members benefit from offers and an invitation to our members' conferences and weekends away.
  • You can also receive our e-newsletter, which is produced monthly and will be invited to any relevant events organised by the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT) throughout the year.

GCS Recruitment Specialists

 

The staff at the London office braved the elements on a cold and wet January morning to do a bucket collection at Mansion House tube station.  They had an incredibly successful day, even roping in a member of staff from London Underground, adding to their target of raising £30,000 for CHECT by the end of April.  Well done to Leah and the team for all their hard work.

Christmas Capers

GCS Recruitment added a further £600 to their Charity of the Year target for CHECT.  The staff held a dress down day, on reception a Christmas gift wrapping service was on offer and at the Christmas party a raffle was held all in aid of CHECT.

 

Pedal Power

GCS Cycle Challenge

 

Staff from the Reading, London and Ireland offices cycled from 9am to 6pm every day over a period of three days to complete 685 miles in total, from their most southern client to their most northern client.  Seventy five members of staff took part and cycled however many miles they wished.
